Adventure Sligo is delighted to be shortlisted for the prestigious EDEN award in the category Health & Well-Being Tourism. Fáilte Ireland is looking for emerging destinations that provide a health and well-being tourism experience as part of the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) Awards.
The main aim of this competition is to highlight the value and diversity of European tourist destinations, promote emerging destinations and encourage sustainable practices. We are looking forward to the judging on the 5th November.
This EU project looks to promote sustainable tourism development across the European Union and is currently held every two years in 29 member states. Previous Irish winners include Scattery Island, the Burren Food Trail, the Great Western Greenway and Loop Head. Health and Well-Being Tourism includes yoga, meditation, sport and fitness and according to Failte Ireland, is a growing sector as people are becoming more interested in both their physical and mental well-being. Adventure Sligo offers a variety of Health and Well-Being Tourism activities. These activities include rock climbing, SUP, sailing, horse-riding, guided walks and trails, kayaking, canoeing, surfing, yoga and meditation brought to you from a network of local providers who are
passionate about what they do.
