Following on the successful Taste of Adventure weekend in May, Adventure Sligo have announced their Wild Atlantic Escapes Weekend from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October. With opportunities for serious adventurers to drill deep and challenge themselves, there are also lighter options for the everyday adventurer. The opening event on Friday is a Full Moon Night Hike with surprises instore in Union Woods, from 7pm. Late night revellers might miss the Dawn Paddle at 7am on Saturday morning, heading across the tranquil waters of Lough Gill on silent SUPs. A majestic start to an Autumn morning. Followed on Saturday, by a Spanish Armada Coastal Trail guided walk along the Streedagh coast or opt for a Canter to the Castle, an outing for experienced riders (adults and children) on Traluath Beach to the cliffs of Classiebawn Castle in Muallaghmore. If you’d rather head for the hills, An Appetite for Heights might tempt you to try rock climbing on Scailp na gCapail where reaching the top is rewarded with spectacular sea and mountain views as well as a delicious (and well earned) lunch.

On Saturday afternoon those who are new to horse riding can enjoy a trek on Traluath Beach. Or, the whole family can try Temple House Tasters, a family day in the glorious surroundings of Temple House stately home introducing everyone to kayaking and archery. At the same time, Yoga to Surf in Strandhill is an energising beach yoga session promising to get you ocean ready for a fun surf experience.

The day is far from finished – A Reel at the Keel in the early evening is a wonderful chance to try sailing on Lough Gill to Church Island where a live music treat awaits everyone. Or the Full Moon SUP Social in Enniscrone might tempt party paddlers, with a BBQ and refreshments included at the pier afterwards.

Sunday morning starts slow and relaxing with Beach Yoga and breakfast on Strandhill seafront. The Yogi Breakfast is in award-winning Shell’s Beach Café – a perfect lazy start to Sunday. Activities conclude on Sunday afternoon with a choice of land or water based fun. On land it’s a hike up iconic Benbulben with a fun and exhilarating yoga session atop the peak to relax and refresh both mind and body. On the water it’s a Sup to Sip on Lough Gill Brewery– as the song says, it’s lazing on a Sunday afternoon.
